Marriage

Thinking of getting married at All Saints? Please read on for more details.

 Meaning of Marriage

Marriage in the Bible is a public declaration of a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman who are leaving their families of origin to form a new family themselves.

God wants to be involved in our marriages. He invented marriage and a Christian marriage is a desire to have God the Father, Jesus the Son of God and God the Holy Spirit deeply involved in helping the husband and wife keep the promises that they make on their wedding day. At All Saints we want to enable couples to have a Christian marriage and not only a church wedding.

Marriage at All saints jakarta

All Saints conducts Christian marriage services according to the ceremonies of the Anglican Church. These marriage services are only available to members of All Saints who are residents of Indonesia, and can be held in our Church Building at Menteng. If one or both of the couple belong to another church they should ask their pastor to marry them at that church. If one is an Indonesian citizen and the other is a foreigner they should ask an Indonesian church to marry them.

Also be aware that as we are an English-speaking congregation, so the man and the woman must speak English. Apart from this, both must belong to the Christian religion.

A pre-marriage preparation of the couple is required, helping you on your way to your special wedding day and to help you understand the importance of the steps you are taking; not only having a wedding but being married. Therefore a notice of 6 months minimum is required.

There is a cost for the use of the building and the time taken by the minister and office staff. Contact the office for costs.

OTHER THINGS of NOTE

As part of the preparations, foreigners must supply a letter from their Embassy saying that there is no impediment to their proposed marriage. We highly recommend for you to contact your respective country's Embassy before contacting All Saints.

After the church ceremony, Indonesian law requires for the marriage to be registered with the Catatan Sipil, which require time an appointment.

Please also keep in mind that weddings are not possible on Sundays, as we conduct our regular services during that time.
